2008 America's Best Colleges
U.S. News & World Report
ACU has again been recognized as one of "America's Best Colleges" by the "U.S. News & World Report" guidebook. Abilene Christian is considered "selective" in its admissions standards. It ranked 17th among 116 western region master's universities. ACU has ranked in the top tier for nine consecutive years and 13 of the last 14 years.
America's 100 Best College Buys
For the 11th consecutive year ACU is included in "America's 100 Best College Buys". To be included in the book, universities must provide "the highest quality in education at the lowest cost." ACU is the only private university in Texas named to the list.
America's Best Christian Colleges
ACU is also included in the 2006-07 edition of "America's Best Christian Colleges." Universities in this guidebook provide "the highest quality education in a Christian environment." Both "America's 100 Best College Buys" and "America's Best Christian Colleges" are published by Institutional Research and Evaluation, Inc. ACU is listed in this guidebook for the tenth straight year.
Best Western Colleges
The Princeton Review includes ACU in its 2007 regional list of "361 Best Colleges." ACU is one of 21 colleges and universities in Texas listed in the 15-state West region.
Origins of Doctoral Recipients
According to the eighth edition of "Baccalaureate Origins of Doctoral Recipients" by Franklin & Marshall, ACU ranks 10th among all master's degree-granting private institutions nationwide in preparing graduates who went on to earn doctorates in all disciplines. The 1998 report covers the last 75 years.
John Templeton Foundation
In its latest guidebook titled "Colleges That Encourage Character Development", the John Templeton Foundation recognizes ACU in its categories of Presidential Leadership, Civic Education and Senior-Year Programs.
